At Sun Brewed Homestead, we turn green scraps into a valuable resource for our garden. Our worm farm and three-bin composting system, built from pallets, helps us break down organic material efficiently while incorporating goat and chicken manure into the mix for extra nutrients.

Drop off your compostable materials with us instead of tossing them out - our garden thanks you!

What Goes into Our Compost:

  • Greens (Nitrogen): Veggie/fruit scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells

  • Browns (Carbon): newspaper, hay, cardboard

  • Manure: Our chickens and goats provide rich manure - enriching the final product.

How We Compost:

  1. Three-Bin System: We layer greens and browns in a rotating three-bin setup, allowing one bin to decompose while we fill the others.

  2. Water and Turn: We keep our compost moist and turn it regularly to add oxygen, helping it break down faster.

  3. Manure Magic: Goat and chicken manure adds essential nutrients, making our compost a powerful soil booster.
